Shop For The Cause, Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this is close to my heart for two primary reasons, (1) my good friend/former coworker and (2) my husband.

One of the kindest and most generous persons I know is my friend, M, who is a breast cancer survival. She is a loving mother and the one person who often gave me support whenever I had a bad work day. Is anyone special to you a breast cancer survival?

And then there’s my husband. Aside from being a dedicated daddy and a caring/loving husband, he is also extremely PASSIONATE about his work (I RARELY mention about his career but deemed this post fairly appropriate). A clinical & research physician and a Harvard Medical School faculty, he specializes in the cancer field. To be more specific, he diagnoses the different types of cancer through gene sequencing (on a molecular level) and helps come up w/ treatment options. He and his research team diligently dedicate themselves every day to help fight this disease.

On numerous occasions, he works into the wee hours to get cases signed out so patients can move forward with their treatment plans. Truth is, these cases represent someone’s mother, sister, friend, uncle, brother, or dad.

On a lighter note, you don’t have to work in the medical field to help fight this disease. You can help by SHOPPING! (gonna do it anyway, might as well do it for a great cause)

So, don these great finds during Breast Cancer Awareness month and you’ll help support breast cancer research too. By purchasing any of the items below, the respective companies will donate part of their proceeds to the cause.

Do your part to find a cure!

Which one is your favorite? Mine is the Tory Burch iphone case, so cute!! Too bad I don’t own an iphone b/c I would’ve probably snatched this case, YESTERDAY!

And yes, #10  is one of my art prints. You can see my entire artwork collection here. I will be donating to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

In other semi-related exciting news, my husband’s hospital has been named the #1 hospital in the NATION!! “Displacing Johns Hopkins, Mass General is No. 1 for the first time. It marks the end of a 21-year reign for Hopkins that started in 1991, the year after U.S. News began publishing Best Hospitals.” – via Huffington Post.

Despite being part of such prestigious institutions, he has remained the same man whom I’ve met 12 yrs ago. I’m so proud of the work that you do everyday to help others but even more proud to be your wife. Way to go, hunnie!

  3. This such an important message to me personally. Thank you for posting it. As always, I just love your blog! As an aside, according to Nancy Brinker of the Susan Komen Fund, “Ten million women around the world could die from breast cancer in the next 25 years. Cancer already claims twice as many lives as AIDS worldwide. At least seven million people die of cancer each year and close to 11 million new cases are diagnosed. That’s more than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined.” Devastating numbers, which is obvious since so many people know people who are combatting this or other cancers. Thank you LeZoe. Have a beautyful weekend! xo

  5. My aunt is a breast cancer survivor and I try to purchase at least one thing to support the cause in her name in my way. I think this year those nail polishes are getting bought. Thanks for the log on all these purchases supporting breast cancer. 😉

  6. Great post. It’s true we all shop too much anyway, why not support a cause that’s effected all of us in at least one way. Kudos also to your husby. Xx

  8. What a beautiful post. You must be so proud of your husband–he’s literally saving lives each day. My father had thyroid and kidney cancer two years ago, and I can’t tell you how much it affected our lives and how grateful we are to everyone who helped cure him, from the doctors and nurses to the technicians and lab assistants.
On a much less serious note, what wonderful items! Off to shop 🙂

  9. I love this post. It always blows my mind how almost every single person is touched by breast cancer in some way. I really respect the work your husband does and hope he knows that people appreciate his dedication. As a side note, I have the pink Chi breast cancer awareness collection (love it) and now I’m obsessing over the Tori Burch iPhone case!
