Besame RED!

I am not a red lips kinda gal. The last time I wore red lips was in high school and the only reason I know this is true is b/c I have pictures to prove it. Otherwise, I myself wouldn’t believe that I use to strut this bold color. Not sure how I had the courage to wear red back then. Well actually, I also used to have dyed blonde hair to go w/ my red lips!! I know…

During my last yrs of high school, I transitioned to bright coral lips. Then in college, I was a pink/nude lips fan. Ever since, I stayed faithful to this color tone. I’m not usually a risk taker, my hair is probably the same exact way (cut not color) as it was in high school. Nothing fancy, usually when it’s down I use a curling iron to give it some volume. If not, it’s usually in a bun or ponytail.

Secretly, I’ve been wanting to try red lips again despite the fact that either I’ll look like a clown or feel awkwardly uncomfortable. I do strongly envy those women who can wear red lips and own it! So classy, mysterious, and super confident!

So when my pals over at Gloss48 sent me a set of Besame Red Lipstick + Crimson Cream Rouge, I was ecstatic to give it a try. Honestly, I was a bit nervous putting it on. RED!! Wow, so bold and out there. I can’t hide from the crowd now!

Here I am w/ my RED lips!! What cha’ think?! I wore my hair down but in its natural state, super flat (this is my hair w/o primping). I usually don’t like my hair down like this (w/o curling) b/c I have fine hair and find that my hair looks too dull and limp.

How GORG are these Besame lip beauties?! Their packaging is truly magnificent, very vintage glam and romantic. The lipstick came in a luxurious red velvet pouch. Besame products have been featured in Mad Men and The Artist. Tres chic!

Talk about being super adventurous! Red lips and Leopard.

LOVE me a BIG ring! Can you believe I snatched this from f21 for a few bucks?!

I realized that applying red lipsticks would be much easier if I had a lip liner to create a ‘guideline’. I had to give it a couple of tries b/c the red kept going outside my lip border. With pink lips, that doesn’t matter much but w/ red you can def. tell if its uneven! Practice makes perfect and I have some practicing to do…

If you are falling in LOVE w/ the Besame lip combo, stay tuned b/c a Besame GIVEAWAY is coming this way in just a few weeks!! Don’t miss out for your chance to own this romantic, vintage glam product!

Are you a red lips fan? If not, would you have the courage to try it? Please share!

PS. I think that I’m going to wear RED lips more often.

  2. Wow you look so 1940s with the red lips and your hair! I wish I could try out red lips, but I have such a baby face that when I do, I look like Jon-Benet or some oversexualized child star.

  3. Sonya here, catching up on your blog after 10 days in Denver for work. I LOVE the red lips on you and I only recently started wearing lipstick too. My lips are the same color as my skin, no lie. So it is nice to have it stand out. I have found that my two favorite bright colors are L’oreal True Red (bright red) and Sea Fleur and glossy fuschia. I think you’re about the same age as me, between 30-35, and I decided it was time to start wearing lipstick like a grown-up lady! I need to try that color you have on though, it is different from my red. A favorite lipstain of mine is made by YSL. It goes on like a gloss and is non-drying and stays on like a stain or lipstick, try it!

  6. Red looks fantastic on you! I love how you pared a bold lip with bold clothes as well. I always thought red had to go with simpler clothes, but after seeing this, I’m a convert 🙂 I’ve been wanting to buy a nice, red lipstick for awhile. I think you’ve finally convinced me to just do it.

  7. Lovely~! I love the hair, the lips and the gold here and there. The combi is good. While I don’t dare to say anything about leopard (me not being a fashionastia enough), I dare say your make up and hairdo was well done! The gold helped in the classy look and take a little attention away from the lips, so it’s not too much. Love the gold on the side of the buttons too

  8. I think you look absolutely brilliant and are rockin’ that red lipstick. You should without a doubt, make red lips part of your daily repertoire.

I recently saw an Ad by Chanel featuring their “New Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour…16 intense shades that dress lips with unmistakable attitude.” and was thinking I may revisit red lips myself..

    :-).

  9. Kellie, you rock! You look super gorgeous with red lips! You should definitely paint them red more often! I’ve tried many shades of red to find the one that will match me and still didn’t get there… So I stay with natural pinks and browns. But I’d really love to go red once in a while! It’s so strong feminine!

I also like your hair like it is on these photos although I absolutely understand your volume problem, cause my hair is heavy and flat so I curl it exactly the way you do.

I love your coat color and you look very good with it! I have a jacket that looks practically equal, just that it’s shorter and has different buttons. But the cut and color is exactly the same! I love it cause it goes great with my green eyes!

Enjoy that red lipstick cause you’re a perfect match!

  12. I always shy away from red lips…The closer I get is my Rouge Coco Liberté and that’s not even that intense!

But this colour is just perfect with that coat and outfit! It looks really great. I might give it a go!

  15. the colour is perfect on you. you should go red more often. I love red lipstick, but bright reds look awful on me so I stick to brick reds and a little brick red lipstick brightens my day. My daughter laughs watching me put it on too! extra bonus!!
