Homemade Pumpkin Spiced Latte

That time of the yr is inevitably approaching. The time when the foliage begin their natural color change, the air is crisp, and falling in love (all over again) is ideal.

The first gift that I ever received from my husband (also happened to be the first time we met in person…yep, we are an online couple!) was a poem, handwritten by him on a piece of opaque paper. Behind the paper was an image of fall w/ the trees & their fallen leaves lining a barren road. It’s beautiful! That was 12 yrs ago & now the piece of art hangs in our living room.

I LOVE autumn b/c for me it signals a slew of holidays coming. Not to mention, fall festivities are so much fun! They totally prepare you for the holiday spirit.

But nothing screams the initial approach of fall more than latte sipping tendencies… pumpkin spice latte that is. Today, I join what most cafes have been doing for the last week or so, making & thoroughly enjoying my very own version of pumpkin spice latte.

If this is not fall-worthy, then I don’t know what is!

I made pumpkin spice latte the unconventional way. I am by no means a recipe follower & you can probably tell by the way I randomly add ingredients here & there. Hey, as long as it turns out yummy, I’m OK.

1. In a mug, add 6 cubes of sugar, 1/4 tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice mix, and brewed espresso to about 3/4th mug full. Mix well.

2. Steam about 1/4th cup soy milk. I have a frother so it steams & froths at the same time.

3. Add steamed soy milk into the espresso/pumpkin spice mixture. Stir well.

4. LOAD with whipped cream & sprinkle pumpkin pie spice mix on top.

I will be enjoying this latte w/ some mini apple pies that I will be making tonight for me & the husband while Ms. Zoey is sound asleep. Mini apple pie recipe to follow later.Β

Whipped cream & froth are probably my most favorite parts.

What are your plans for the weekend? We are heading to cape cod early in the morning and praying that it won’t rain!

‘Til next post, Kellie.

  2. The weather is getting a bit chilly here in The Netherlands. Your pumpkin spiced latte seems perfect! Thanks : )

  3. Just gorgeous and welcoming…I know that latte taste delicious as I’m a big soy chai latte girl amd every now and then tried my share of pumpkin. I must share, I met my Husband Shaun at a 80’s reveiew club almost 9 years ago and before my Husband and I went on our 1st date, I challenged each other to write the other a poem. We did just that, after dinner, sitting on the beach reading each others poem. One of the most romantics days of my life! How lucky are we? πŸ˜‰

  4. Lovely photos! I’m happy to hear that the pumpkin spice latte has come back to many coffee shops. the one you made looked lovely.

  5. What a beautiful memory of meeting your husband, and how lucky are you to have found someone with such an artistic sensibility, when that is such an important piece of who you are. Great story and mmmmm, pumpkin, definitely a seasonal craving worth pursuing at this time of year.

  6. Yum, pumpkin spice lattes are my favorite of the Starbucks specialty holiday/seasonal drinks. I definitely will try this because I love pumpkin flavored anything as well. I actually made a pumpkin past last night, nothing says fall (to me) like pumpkins. I am welcoming fall with open arms after the incredibly hot summer we’ve had in Chicago. Have a great weekend Kellie!!

  7. Thank you for liking one of my posts and give me the chance to meet you and your wonderful site! I now need to catch up with all you great posts!

  8. I know the pumpkin spiced latte is extremely successful in the US and the UK but even though, I’ve lived in the UK for more than 2 years, I never tried it… here in Germany, we do not really have this type of coffee. Can you explain to me what it tastes like (if that is even possible…). Does it taste a lot like pumpkin??? I was wondering because I am not a massive fan of pumpkin and cannot imagine combining it with coffee… πŸ™‚

  9. Do you think this would work with just regular coffee? I don’t have an espresso machine but I do brew coffee every morning and I love pumpkin spice lattes!

  10. That’s so precious that you framed the first thing your husband gave you as art πŸ™‚
