Mike’s Pastry Cannolis

Hello all! Hope everyone’s having a GREAT weekend so far. Ours has been really fun! My sister & her other half from NYC came to visit. For lunch we indulged in a Shabu hot pot & sushi combo buffet. For dinner, we made a clambake feast and enjoyed some yummy lobster, sausage, corn along w/ my husband’s homemade New England clam chowder. He makes the BEST clam chowder! What can I say?! The man can cook.

But this post isn’t about lunch or dinner, it’s about desserts! Who doesn’t LOVE desserts? My sis in law got us some cannolis from Mike’s Pastry. If you are a Bostonian, you’ll know that Mike’s Pastry (located in the North End, a mecca for Italian food) is one of the best places for Italian pastries.

She got us four kinds of cannolis- original (which I devoured before shooting…oops!), chocolate dipped, pistachios, and almond/chocolate dipped.

Yes, you’ve guessed it! I’m currently enjoying this one w/ some white organic tea while writing this post (I SERIOUSLY need to go on a detox!). It’s 11pm and both the hubs & baby are sleeping. Nice and quiet! Enjoying some ‘me & blogging’ time.

Drooling…

Wow! the color is soo vibrant!

Combining food & fashion.

To me, the cannoli shells taste like fried wonton wrappers – super crunchy.

Btw, these things are HUGE and will set you back around $3.50/piece.

These flats are comfy and so cute w/ their gold rim edges.

They offer a whole slew of handmade fillings including ricotta cheese, yellow and chocolate cream (among others).

A MUST try if you are in the Boston area!

What are your favorite types of desserts? Please share!

‘Til next post, Kellie.

  1. As a born and raised Bostonian, I must argue against Mike’s Pastry. The shop has become such a tourist mecca and the cannolis…really…aren’t the best. I’m not sure why people continue to flock there. If you every get a chance to visit Boston yourself, check out Caffe Vittoria right down the street. A little coffee shop filled with beautiful vintage espresso machines and the best, freshest cannolis you’ll ever have. All without the tourists and the insane lines.

  2. I’m from Boston and make a Mike’s Pastry visit every few months. Once I get it in my head that I need one of his cannolis, nothing can stop me from getting one!

  3. Oh yum. I love Mike’s Pastry. And Modern Pastry. And just the North End in general. I lived in Boston for 6 years and just moved to Illinois. Man do I miss that city. I used to Pedicab (you know those awesome bike taxis?) and outside Mike’s was one of my favorite places to get rides.
No doubt it was delicious 🙂

  4. I am a Bostonian and am a 10 minute walk from Mike’s Pastry. Although, I gotta tell ya, as a born and raised Bahstonian (and 2nd Gen. Italian), I prefer Modern Pastry. Just sayin’. 🙂

    Love your blog!
