Grocery Shopping With Zoey

Zoey is at the stage where she loves to participate and make herself useful. She loves helping mommy unload the dishwasher. She would give me an item (one by one) to put away as I call each out by its name. It’s a great way for her to learn what a spoon, bowl, or plate is.

We often do our grocery shopping during the weekends. It’s not as easy as in and out like it used to be prior to Z’s inception into the family. It’s quite a family affair. Aside from never sitting obediently in the cart, she likes to contribute to the shopping process. After all, grocery shopping has become what Zoey needs for the week. Lately, it has been all about her.

Below, I document the process via instagram!

The day started off w/ Zoey in silly pigtails (thanks to daddy!).

Grabbing whatever is w/in reach.

Apparently, we need about 20 boxes of chicken bouillon!

Oopsies…eating before paying!

Her tiny shoes.

Preparing to check out.

Unloading…

Still unloading…

Signing for daddy!

Home and exhausted but eager to help mommy unpack!

Have a GREAT Monday everyone!

  1. Great wee helper, my nephew was like that too. He started helping to load and unload the dishwasher for my sister last year. He turned 3 today and now he gets out spoons etc at food time because he knows what he needs to use for certain foods. He puts things in the bin when he’s finished with it too. He refuses to sit in the cart now though so he runs about the shop >.< He does help to get certain things though. He would pick up something that she asks for. I do agree that it helps them learn the names of things. She is going to be great when she gets a bit older. Hopefully she stays helpful.

  2. Argh she’s so adorable in that pink onesie and pigtails!

That is a really good idea with the washing up 🙂 I’m sure I was just as bad when I was a child with the shopping, always just throwing what I wanted in the trolley whether we needed it or not. hehe.

  3. Hubby takes the kids grocery shopping, or “shee shee shoppin” as they pronounce it. They have a GREAT time together and I have a great time alone. He loves grocery shopping and I hate it so this arrangement worked out well.
