Would you consider having your bridesmaids wear mismatched dresses? My very first instinct would be “NO”, but after seeing how beautiful these ladies pulled it off, I’ve changed my mind.

Which group of bridesmaids was your FAV? Super hard to choose but I’m picking the lavender girls. ALL of their dresses are so AH-AMAZING and breathless.
And I’m going to leave you with this brilliant but super scary way of displaying a wedding cake. I’ll be a nervous wreck knowing that someone will knock it over. But then again, if it were me, I’d have an electric fence around it!
PS. The countdown to my sister’s wedding has begun! Less than 7 days to go! There’s exciting nervous energy around the house as we prep for the big day…

Great post! I was torn between the classy grays and the girls who were all in the same style, but different colors.
I definitely think “mismatched” dresses can work. Several years ago, I was a bridesmaid, and the bride sent each of the bridesmaids a swatch of deep blue to match in any floor-length gown we wanted, from any store we chose. It was great to be allowed to pick something flattering to my figure and also not to have to trek out to the bride’s town to deal with her dressmaker. I think we all looked amazing together, and I know we were all grateful to the bride for respecting our individuality. We all got our hair done at the same salon the morning of the wedding, and the bride gave each of us a matching bracelet, which pulled our look together.

I love the soft pastels dresses!
I don’t mind mismatched bridesmaid dresses as long as they look good together. I let my bridesmaids choose the design of their dresses but they were all the same color and material since I was on a budget. If we had more time and budget I’d go with the different shades of dresses.

The second picture is my fav! For my wedding, my color scheme was black and white, and the bridesmaids wore black dresses, but each were different: straps, strapless, halter top, satin, lace, etc…..they were each able to show off their individual style!

Gorgeous. I wanted to for my wedding this November but my bridesmaids are all scattered and it was proving tricky to coordinate. So they’re all stuck with the same, but beautiful, gowns.

I decided to let my bridesmaids pick out the style of their dresses for my wedding. They were all a lovely blue color, but each dress was a different style that flattered each bridesmaid. It ended up looking really great! I loved my wedding, it was such a wonderful day! Thank you for making me think about it!

I like the ones best where the colours are similar, or the styles are. Too different and it just looks like a mish mash.
When I married (many years ago) my dress designer would not even contemplate my choosing different colours in the same style, not happening! A few years later my next door neighbour married in the obligatory – at the time – white dress and had each of her many sisters in the same dress in a rainbow of colours, with the tiny one also in white. It looked stunning.

That is a really scary way to display a wedding cake! I love the idea, but I personally decided against it when I chose the dresses for my bridesmaids. I’m all about uniformity.

Thanks for posting! I love how the different dresses really highlight each girl’s personality. I know it’s supposed to be the bride’s day, but I don’t see why you would want to put your loved ones in hideous dresses anyway. 🙂

The first wedding I went to that did this I was taken aback at first glance, but as they each entered the church and stood on the altar steps (totally comfortable in their attire – each looking stunning) I changed my mind. Each was beautiful in her own way and I could see that beauty rather than cookie cutter dresses.

My favorite are the shades of mint and turquoise. I think this is a great idea – allowing bridesmaids to pick out their own dresses hopefully means they really liked them and will be able to wear them again rather than spending a lot of money on something that will be shoved in the back of their closets.

I really want to do mismatched bridesmaid dresses! I am hoping I bc find some dresses in the same navy palette so that each girl can have something that fits their body/taste 🙂
