A Bittersweet Day

Today is a very bittersweet day. It’s Zoey’s last day at daycare and then she transitions to preschool at another institution. Zoey has come a very long way. From her first day screaming and crying because she was terrified to now- not wanting to go home when we pick her up. It’s her happy place.

I have to admit, putting her in daycare was one of the best things that I’ve ever done for her. I was very hesitant at first. I mean, it’s daycare- isn’t that where all the kids get sick? But Zoey has learned so much there, from trying new foods (she was not an eater), to being confident & sociable (she had the worst stranger anxiety), and being potty trained (we got lucky, it wasn’t that bad).

Her experience probably wouldn’t have been the same if it weren’t for her teacher. Ms. Isabelle loved and adored Zoey so much and as we say goodbye (for now), we are leaving her with a few little goodies that we hope she’ll enjoy.

Happy Friday.

  1. I am so glad that there are still parents like you who know how big the role of teachers, caretakers, nannies, .. is. They will not be in the child’s life for a long time. But they make big changes in a small amount of time. I work with children a lot and I can say from experience that often we are not valued enough, taken for granted or mistaken for parents (yes that too!)..
I am glad there are still people who see and appreciate this work, as it is very important and I believe that teachers (I’m not one) are very underpaid.
