When Graham & Brown asked me to curate a precious-themed post, I immediately thought about Zoey. She is always on my mind but lately has been gaining extra mommy mind time. I’ve been thinking a lot about the next upcoming months and the new adventures that await her. She’s officially starting Pre-K this Fall. I can’t believe that that’s remotely reality. Four years fly by in a blink of an eye.

Our hospital ride home as a new family was one I would never ever forget. It wasn’t because I was so happy for this new addition but because I was in so much physical pain that every small bump on the road hit me like a ton of bricks. As I was balling my eyes out, Zoey was also crying and screaming in her car seat. The ride home was anything but pleasant.

Fast forward to today, Zoey is growing up to be a fine little young lady. She has never been that tantrum toddler, thank god. Always “No, thank you”, “Yes, please”, and “Excuse me mommy, I want to…” if she wants attention while I’m  talking to someone else.

So coming Fall, she will embark on this new journey. I don’t know whether I should cry my heart out because our Z is growing up too fast or embrace the fact that life has so many exciting things in-stored for her.

I remember the little things that I learned in elementary school, one of which was making book covers. Remember making them out of kraft paper bags? Because this post is all about precious things, the book covers in a way are precious, and quite nostalgic as they bring me back to elementary school just like where Zoey will be in just a few short  months…

Here I am reliving the making of book covers and incorporating them into my home decor. I haven’t done this in probably two decades or more!

These gold and white book covers were made from wallpaper remnants. You can use almost anything from newspapers, paper bags, to gift wrapping papers.

If you have a ton of books around the house and want them to be more of a cohesive collection, I think book covers are the way to go. They are a temporary but gorgeous fix. You can color coordinate, make them monochromatic, or assemble them based on a certain design. Imagine an entire row of books with newspaper book covers. Wouldn’t that look so cool?

The gold wallpaper is Desire Gold/Mustard as seen in our living room above. The white one is a textured vinyl called Large Damask as seen in our bathroom that we are currently renovating. Both wallpapers are from Graham & Brown.

I’m sure you may already know how to do this, but here’s a quick pictorial in case you need a refresher! The steps are pretty self-explanatory…
