Halloween at Home

Halloween in our home is serious business. Probably just as serious as Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s not like we have a choice really- when there are over 3000 trick-or-treaters knocking on your door in a night, you’d better be ready. It’s also so much fun for the kiddos (secretly, I’m happy to be a kid again) to help decorate the house, choose their costumes, and anticipate for the big day.

This past weekend, Zoey and Axel helped decorate our dining room with spooky but not-so-scary Halloween stuff.

Here’s a look at what we did…

These images were taken during the onset of sunset. Love how our dining room has a different feel in the morning, during the day, and at sunset based on the type of light seeping through. My fave time is during sunset when everything is calm and quiet.

Adorable times. Wishing, hoping, and praying that time would have mercy and stay still. A mother can dream…

Axel doesn’t look too happy. He’s brewing a fever. Zoey, on the other hand, has a million silly faces up her sleeves.

In renovation news, the remainder to-dos on our dining room makeover list: switch out white chairs, reupholster wingback end chairs, and replace chandelier. And then our dining room will finally be complete!

On the dining table: Restoration Hardware catalog, autumn scented candle (a must!), and a bowl of tangerines.

Now that our house is Halloween ready, we are waiting impatiently for the big day!

  1. Super cute! You’re so right that life changes so much between having trick-or-treaters or not. We live in an apartment building in the middle of the city, so I went to volunteer at the nearby Children’s Museum so that I could get some Halloween spirit. Hope that you have such a great time with the kids!
