Homemade Croutons

I love croutons. In fact, I rarely eat salads or even soups without them. Making them is really easy and fast. We always have leftover French bread so I quickly turn them into these crunchy and tasty goodness! Add some herb seasonings to stale French bread, throw them in the over and voila!

Ever since Zoey mentioned that she loves tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, I’ve been making them on the regular. Secretly, it’s really a vegetable soup with a tomato base because I hide all the other vegetables in it- onions, bell peppers and celery. After it’s pureed, no one knows that it’s full of other goodies but mommy!

I combine all the above ingredients into a ziploc bag and just shake it so that all the bread bits get covered with the olive oil, herbs and salt. Bake for about 15-20mins at 350 degrees. Use bread that’s at least one day old.

Tomato soup and grilled cheese is a great go-to comfort combo especially in the winter time.

Since the dried herbs are so fragrant and potent, you won’t need but a few pinches. Hope you’ll give this a try!

Have a great Wednesday.
