I love taking a well-loved beaten piece of furniture and turn it into something sort of fabulous. My desk in the home office was transformed a very long time ago (almost a year now) so this post is way way overdue! My office is still a work in progress although most of the major work is complete.
What’s left are a few minor stuff like adding floating shelves, window treatments and finding that perfect white fluffy rug. I will do a complete office makeover post when everything is said and done. So far, I’ve shared bits and pieces of it. Like this little corner HERE with the gold mirror of my dreams.
We got this desk for $75. I loved the shape and style but not the color. It’s an easy fix though, slap on some white paint and it’ll look like new. I starting painting the desk and realized I forgot to take a before picture. This is the reason why you see a white paint strip down the middle of the desk.
For the hardware, I simply spray painted them gold.
Above is one of Zoey’s artwork. It’s a picture of me and her holding hands in our bejeweled dresses. You probably can’t tell but she gave herself a princess crown and very long eyelashes.
On the desk is our family picture from Zoey’s (Secret Garden) 4th b-day dinner party. See the post HERE. It was a very magical evening!
I stacked a few books for decoration. Some of them were covered with white damask patterned wallpaper. Another DIY post that I wrote about HERE.
Desk essentials…
What I love most about the office is that it’s very bright. However, during the day it gets really hot so I’m desperately on the hunt for some window treatments which has become a challenge because our windows are so tall the standard size ones won’t fit.
Another before and after below. Forgot to mention, I primed the desk first before adding two coats of paint- Benjamin Moore in Decorator’s White.
If you are diggin’ all of the gold gilded vases, you can easily make them yourself! They were part of a DIY project that I did a while back. So simple but gorgeous. You won’t believe how easy it was. See tutorial HERE.
Tulips for Spring!
Hope you’ve enjoyed this simple furniture makeover!
In Instagram news- 1. Feeling slightly red #classic 2. Daily morning ritual- daddy does Zoey’s hair 3. Mood lately: cold, rain, comfy, latte 4. Lots of Spring blossoms.
