It’s finally here! The kids’ bedroom makeover is finished (except for a few little projects) and they are over the moon. They’ve been waiting forever to get the bedroom of their dreams and surely- mommy and daddy did not disappoint!
One of the biggest dilemmas that we faced was whether or not to incorporate wallpaper. In the end, we decided to go for it. One thing that I knew for sure- I didn’t want anything too colorful and crazy. Yes, it’s a kids room but the idea of having an all pink or blue bedroom gave me hives. We choose this gorgeous silver pearl-ish wallpaper by Graham & Brown. The pattern was a forest filled with birch trees. Very dreamy, whimsical and classy.
I’m going to share their bedroom makeover in series because there are several separate areas to their room- the bed, the reading nook, the fireplace and their ‘lounging’ space. It’s all too much to be compiled into one post. Plus, I thought you would appreciate the details of each space more.
Today, I’m sharing the kids’ bed space. This is actually a temporary fix. Hubs is going to build them a cabin bed. This wallpaper will be perfect as a backdrop! For now, the Ikea MINNEN bed frame will suffice.
To appreciate the scale of this makeover, you’d need to see the before pics. Below was how the bedroom looked previously. It was pretty beat up. This was not a simple makeover. Walls cracked and everything! My hubs did all the work himself and it took about two months to complete. We live in a historical brownstone, so nothing is brand new. Most of our house had to be renovated but it’s so worth it because these older homes have amazing architectural details and charm that newly developed homes lack.
I’m not going to say much more. I’ll let the images speak for themselves…
Just one tiny note- Axel had new Hunter boots so he was obsessed and we couldn’t get him to take them off!
Below, the cutest elephant ‘piggy’ bank from Tiffany & Co.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this little bedroom tour. Stay tuned for more of the kid’s room makeover. Visit Graham & Brown’s site for more amazing wallpapers!
