Yoga In The City

If I had to envision the perfect scenario for my life at this age and stage, it would be exactly how it is now. Married with two little ones and a dream job that challenges my creativity everyday. But even with this so called ideal life, there are challenges.

A few weeks ago, Zoey was on her Spring break vacation. On my way to work that Monday, I was overwhelmed with mommy guilt because I wasn’t home with her. Instead, we put her in backup daycare for that entire vacation week. That morning, I went into the office almost emotionally distraught and it took me a few good minutes to get myself together. I love my work so I’m not resentful that I had a job to do but I was more disappointed in myself for not planning better as a mommy.

I already cherish weekends with the family, but this particular ‘lesson’ in my life made me realized it’s time to #stepforward to be my best mommy self. It’s not the quantity but the quality. To spend each moment with the kids and make it happy, positive and memorable.

Last weekend, we took the kids on an adventure and strolled them into the city for six hours!  We picnicked, rode the merry-go-round among other fun things. Zoey and I even stopped by a few spots along the way for some mini-yoga sessions. She taught me a few poses that she had recently learned from school.

I’ve realized that I can’t do it all, all the time. When I’m at work, I completely immersed myself into that corporate world. But when I’m at home, I’m mommy and wife— just trying to fulfill those duties as best as I could.

Live in the moment. The present is all that matters— right now.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I love your posts and your family is beautiful. I also love the fact that in this post you spoke of the guilt that you felt when you couldn’t be home with her on her week off. Hit the nail on the head. A lot of us feel that way but don’t put a word to it. It’s therapeutic in a way to do so. I have 2 little ones of my own. They are my everything, but I work 45-50 hours a week in a job where there is high expectations and low recognition. I do it though because my customers notice and that is enough for me. 2 days ago, it was bring your cold to work day and they were hard with me for 3 hours out of my shift. My regulars came in and finally saw them in person, not just a picture or remembering my overly pregnant belly from 2 years ago. Little things….
