Zoey eats mainly homemade baby foods although there has been times when we are on vacation that I have to resort to store bought baby foods. There are great options out there now for when homemade food is not available (traveling, etc.)
I try to feed Zoey at least one snack a day which often includes fruits and/or grains. The following recipe is super simple to make and is very nutritious.
Pears, hot cereal grains, + bananas.
Mix the pears + cereal.
1. Add 1.5 cups of water and bring to a hard boil.
2. Let simmer for about 20 mins or until the pears and grains get soft.
3. Add the cooked mixture + bananas into a blender.
4. Blend to the consistency of choice.
Zoey loves this b/c she loves pears and bananas. Basically, anything sweet. I add the grains to make it even more nutritious.
Do you make your own baby food? If so, what’s your favorite recipe? Please share!
‘Til next post, Kellie.
My son is just starting to eat real food. I want to make his baby food instead of giving him the jarred, store bought food. Like you said, there are good options, like Earth’s Best organic, but I really want to make it myself. Do you have one of those fancy baby food processors, or do you use a regular food processor?

I did make most of Eli’s baby food. I liked being able to control what ingredients he ate. http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com is a great reference.
When I didn’t make it, I used HappyBaby for his pre-pepared foods. They have really convenient pouches which was great for day care.
