If you’ve been following my blog since its inception, you would’ve first seen Zoey when she was just 6 mths. And you would’ve witnessed some of her milestones through my posts, such as her first baby steps, babbles, pumpkin patch adventure, etc.
Tomorrow, she officially turns 16 mths! Recently, she has learned some new tricks and they include walking backwards, scribbling (she LOVES to ‘write’), & being a professional Ipad user. She has yet to say ‘mommy’ and I can’t wait until that day! More things to look forward to… Everyday is a new adventure.
I just began transitioning Zoey into daycare 2 days/week and it has been such a struggle. I’m sure it’s scary for her to be in a new environment w/ strangers when all she’s ever known has been mommy’s embrace. I think half of the battle is learning to let her go… give her room to expand, grow, and experience exciting adventures outside from home. I do have that mommy guilt of placing misery upon her (especially when she screams bloody murder when I drop her off). And I do have my doubts… is what I’m doing beneficial for her when all she does is cry and gets terrified?
Hopefully, one day she will build the confidence to walk into her classroom head held high, running to her friends, and maybe even forgetting to kiss mommy goodbye. Then, I will be the one crying and being miserable! Thinking of this moment actually gets me teary eyed!
On a side note, putting Zoey into daycare frees up my time, keeps me sane, and allows me to recharge. Taking care of a baby 24/7 literally sucks the life out of you! In addition, I can now take on projects that I wasn’t able to before and focus on networking, and building new collaborations. This blog is growing each day (nearly 7300 followers in 10 mths!), which I am very grateful for but now demands more of my attention.
While being a mommy is the most important (& hardest) job, I also believe in striving for other accomplishments so not to lose yourself as a wife, woman, and individual.
Sooo cute and she is growing up so fast!!!

Your beautiful daughter will excel in daycare given time. It’s all about adjusting, for her and for you. It took my son longer than my daughter to adjust, but now he loves it!

Wow, the transition in Zoey’s looks, from baby to girl in the last 3 posts has been really sudden. For me, anyway!

I fully understand your struggles. My son is just 2 month younger and sometimes I feel I need some deep breathe away from everything and everyone. And that goes exactly with being head over heels in love with him!
It’s somehow also comforting to find other mommy’s feeling the same way. It makes me feel more human cause sometimes I feel a bit guilty to want a break from my own child, you know what I mean?
Zoey’s getting prettier with every month! You’re gonna be in trouble! 😉

She is so cute. She’ll do fine. I had a really hard time going into preschool (I was never in daycare) but eventually I made friends and had a lot of fun.

I can definitely relate. I have a 10 month old and a 4 year old – “sucking the life out of you” is an understatement! And I definitely agree that it is important to keep your own identity, goals, and accompliishments in order to keep your sanity.
Shes is a beauty!

Happy 16 months! Starting your kid with daycare seems to be a traumatizing experience with the crying and screaming. I admit I shed a tear or two when I started my son but it is what they say, “Out of Sight, Out of Mind”. Once you leave, she should be fine! My son cried every day for about 2-3 months but now when we drop him off, he’s off running and yelling bye bye to us. 🙂

what a cutie! don’t worry about her crying when you drop her off, i used to be an au pair for a girl same age than her and she always cried when her mommy left to go to work. but only until the door closed, then she stopped and we had the best times 🙂

“Taking care of a baby 24/7 literally sucks the life out of you”-Truer words have never been spoken! I just said this to my husband last night, except in my case I used the descriptor “they” as in my twin 9 month old boys. THEY suck the life out of me! I love finding other mommy blogs like mine-women who want to be great mothers without losing themselves-so nice to have others to inspire and be inspired by! Great blog!
