THIS IS IT!!
A few weeks ago, I’ve swooned over a house that we saw and swore that it was THE HOUSE OF OUR DREAMS. Well, you will get to meet that house in this post!
Let me start off with some introduction to this AH-MAZING property. It literally has everything that we wanted on our checklist: a city address, brownstone, lots of period details, a yard, etc.
I can’t even begin to tell you what I love about this space. I’m pretty much speechless so I’ll start off with its history. Its a corner unit Post Civil War Brick which means it boasts sunlight from every corner and has many original gorgeous Victorian period details (marble fireplaces, ceiling medallions, hardwood floors, iron cast oven, sky high ceilings, thick crown moldings, etc.)
At over 4200 sq feet with 4 living levels, we will never ever EVER have to move again! There’s also roof access which means only one thing. We can actually build a roof deck and enjoy the city view from it!
We see so much potential in this space as it needs updating. This may be the perfect opportunity to seize such an amazing property. If this house were completely renovated to the 2013 standards, there’s NO WAY we would be able to afford it. We are totally excited about having the opportunity to work w/ developers to restore its beauty and at the same time add some modern amenities (if we bought it).
One HUGE problem. It’s OVER our budget. We are still debating whether or not to dive in this once in a lifetime opportunity…at least that’s how we view it! We shall see..
And IF it does become our home, I can’t wait to rip off all the wallpapers and give it an all-white paint job. With its existing architectural details, this house reminds me of some of the spaces below (they are all equally my dream home too!):

So, what do you think about my DREAM HOME?!
All I can say is fingers-crossed and…toes! May Fate guide us in the right direction. Like my sister C always say, “If it’s meant to be, it will be.” But if it’s not meant for us, I would be really, really crushed and probably hibernate in Zoey’s closet for 2 weeks (that’s what I told the hubs).
Thanks for sharing this house hunting adventure with me…
Gorgeous find, and even better inspo.
Best of luck, and congrats!

Such gorgeous choices! Lucky that you can afford them. Where are these houses? They remind me of the Victorian homes in San Francisco. Beautiful details abound. ~ http://nakitaaudrey.com

I will be praying you get it! It’s perfect for all your upgrades and ideas and would give you stuff to write about forever in your blog. We are waiting to see if we can knock down and re-build our 100 year old house now. No, it’s NOT what you think when you hear 100 years old, no wonderful characteristics (they were all unfortunately, taken away after a “modern” upgrade many many years ago). But it’s my husbands family home since all those 100 years and we just love the neighborhood (he’s Native American and his whole family grew up on this street when it was only his Moms family and dirt roads). All our best to you and your family!

it’s beautiful, but definitely in need of modernising. And how on Earth will you keep it clean? From Zoey’s perspective it would be a great house to grow up in, so much room for friends and toys and epic games of hide and seek…

Wow, that really is a beauty. I can just imagine the wonderful things you could do with that! SUCH a hard decision. You don’t want to move in and be too cash-strapped to do all the things you want to do, either. Good luck figuring this out!

It really is a charming place with potential to become a home for generations to come. But we too believe in “Fate” ~ if it was not meant to be, there is always something out there for you. Everything happens for a reason, and let it be a good reason in times to come. In any case, may you find your home for your family to grow and love in ~ XO
