Weekend Mornings

I love weekend mornings.

My weekday mornings are so hectic it’s hard to enjoy the crisp Autumn air, if only for a second. It’s a mad dash to get to the office every morning. From the moment I wake up, it’s a marathon to get everything done and ready for the day. But this doesn’t last forever b/c after 5 consecutive mornings of craziness, I deserve 2 mornings of indulgence, right?

And talk about self-indulgence! Since I wake up insanely early (by 6am), I’d have about 1 hour of me time (this means me & my affair w/ food) before Ms. Zoey wakes up and takes over my life. Lately, my food affair has been with mini-muffins and hot chocolate topped w/ a heavy dose of whipped cream and caramel syrup. The excuse? My unborn child craves it.

fallFor those of you who are not expecting and crave a Fall-worthy drink, I will share this mulled up cocktail recipe later in the post.

fall4Recipe for mulled up (a perfect Fall cocktail):

1.5 oz Wodka Vodka, 3/4 oz Laird’s apple brandy, 1/2 oz Mirto myrtle berry liqueur, 1/2 oz apple-cinnamon syrup, 1 dash angostura bitters, 1 strip orange zest.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all ingredients except for orange zest. Shake well and strain into a cocktail coupe. Garnish with orange zest. Recipe taken from La Cucina Italiana Mag.

  2. I love this post! Thanks for sharing the Mulled Up recipe:) I unwind on the weekends by taking a ballet class first thing in the morning. Ballet is my escape, my happy place.
